Once upon a time in a land far far away there lived the knights of the round table. these knights fought courageously and honorably for the king or queen that they swore their lives to, as payment along with their lot of land these knights also received the title of "sir" to distingusih themselves from the common rabble.
however in present society the whole meaning of being knighted seems to have been lost somewhere in time, because most recently in the news someone like Bill Gates has been recognized by the queen of england and knighted... What the fuck?
Bill Gates:
- richest man in the world (50 billion USD)
- convicted of practicing anti-competitive behaviour in the USA
- was once falsley accused of dominating the USA
- It has now been proven that it is world domination Gates seeks, fuck the USA
- and he is being investigated in Europe.
- my 10 yearold cousin could beat the fuck out of him one on one in a boxing ring
-sidenote: you'd think the richest man in america would be able to afford to pay someone to cut his hair rather than insisting on doing it himself.
and this fool has been knighted for his "business skills and for his work on poverty reduction"(BBC News)

It's people like bill gates which is the reason why there is extreme poverty and unemployment, poverty is caused by single individuals carrying a moderate fraction of the worlds wealth in his/her back pocket (exaggeration fools). Which leads to there being very rich people and very poor people, and as the rich get richer, the middle class will die out completely.
2. when bill does give "generously" to charity it's probably for one reason and one reason only: the major tax benefiets he gets from giving to charity.
3. he can afford to donate millions of dollars to anything millions of dollars would be chump change to the guy who owns most of north america. (owning = windows xp, 2000 and etc...)
4. finally to be knighted you have to be part of the god damn commonwealth!

You know I hope to be knighted someday. I mean I'm too stupid to be Dr. Jay Gall, not enough commitment/too much of an atheist to be Father Jay Gall, and well pretty much any other thing you can put in front of your name takes time and effort, so therefore the only way to go is being knighted. bill gates has revolutionized the computer world and made many, many products otherwise only usuable by the rich available to everyone: that in itself is an accomplishment.
Also, you have no way of knowing why he gives to chairty. In fact, i think the last thing on his mind is a little tax exemption.
And, in the technological revolution, the world icons and most important men in the world will be those who give access to knowledge and increase our technological capabilites as that will shape the future. Bill Gates might be the most important man in the modern world right now. I agree with the choice

Is there any reason you continue to be anonymous? With someone so full of knowledge and insight, I wouldn't figure you to be the type to hide his identity. Just curious who the man behind the mouth is.
And by the by, it's common knowledge amoung inventors and innovators that the current patent regime is stifling creation. In fact, there is a rising movement in europe led by open source software advocates to prevent the introduction of software patent laws similar to those in the US into Europe.
I have no problems with inventors owning the rights to their invention. I do have a problem with having to pay royalties to a patent company who doesn't even research, manufatuer or market a product, just because they decided to pay ten thousand dollars to patent a thumb-keyboard.
Bill Gates of Microsoft recently tried to patent TCP/IP, which was created by researchers for the US Military. G dawg effectively tried to patent the internet and it almost passed too.

Second of all, yes, bill gates does have a shitload of money, and he gives away massives amounts of it. The Bill and Melinda Gates foundation has a $28 Billion Dollar endowment. Can you please explain how someone who sets up a foundation like that can be descibed as an evil bastard? HE DOES NOT HAVE TO GIVE AWAY MONEY TO HELP THE POOR!!!!!! Oh and since you think that he singlehandedly creates poverty can provide me with a source so that I can understand where your douchebaggery is coming from? Not sure if you guys knew this or not but with the whole Gates being knighted? Big deal? He still cannot have the title of "SIR". He is an American and therefore not a part of the commonwealth. By law those only citizens, BORN citizens (not landed immegrant, resident citizens,etc) of commonwealth countries ie CANADA can actually bear the title "SIR" after being knighted. So really, how cool is being knighted if you can be Sir F'ckface, or what not? It's basically useless for an American to be knighted...just really funny..
